ksPerPixel is ok. Maybe it looks strange because you forgot to use alpha in the texture/shader ? Anyhoo, here are some sample settings.
So I think I'm on the finalizing stage finally getting there. Let's just say it's a been a bloody big journey I'm still overwhelmed by somethings but I think next time I do a track I'll have better understanding it's a been a bit of a disaster from the start aha with the google map data not being able to do a decent mask etc. I still need to delve into ks editor yet aha so we'll see where that goes. Apparently in future I need a closer to the track shot for the diffuse to do the mask instead of the whole thing A few things i need to try and do now is make it look more full and cover some of the edges with either trees or bushes it's a bit too open.
I need way more trees according to videos and I'm a little stumped on how to do this at the moment, around the edges it seems to be hedgerows as you can see in the photo below. I was thinking about doing a simple plane around the outside but do you reckon I'd need some thickness? Only problem is you can't set it up in a y or x position as it would be too wide or go with single bushes? The bushes you'll see: Hedgerow texture I have is here:
Your track is rather small, so I would tend to think performance would not be a problem. Therefore, why not going for Y trees and bushes ? For the bushes you could make a test on a small area (like 10-20 m long) and place some tens of Y shaped bushes. See how they look. Maybe they would give you the thickness you need. Otherwise, I assume you can go for the "wall" type but they might look too flat. So might want to place some "wigs" to give it some volume. It is a bit like the hay bale discussion .
I thought it wouldn't be possible to make the bush wall in a y shape or x as it's going to stick to far out if you get what I mean, I'll need to look for a way to add thickness to it I think as a wall like the trees just isn't going to work. I couldn't find any other textures I could use as a bush object like the ones on track.

Not yet it's using another track folder structure atm, need to do my own me and a few friends are testing for a couple of days, minor fixes cameras still need to be done.
So I've been playing around the multilayer fresnel nm shader to see what results I can get, I decided to snap a picture off google earth of some grass and the variation is very nice however, my dirt textures and brown grass have a hue on it from the diffuse . The google earth diffuse: 4096x4096
Sometimes you’ll have a better result removing the color from the diffuse, and colouring the detail maps instead.
Tried another area and I'm happy with this one this time, it must have been the type of grass on google earth.
