I tried to play with this on my Slovakiaring project recently and I gave it up in the end. Most of the configuring needs to be done in surfaces.ini, not CSP config file and when it works there is very high chance of CPU occupancy error. The tyre barriers are relatively OK, did not experience any issues with them, but when you want to put soft physics on stuff like water barriers and there are more than one close to each other and you will hit them, you will kill you CPU eventually (I have Ryzen R9 5900x and still was not enough). This stuff works similar to extended car physics, you need to add something to surfaces ini what will crash the vanilla game and I can confirm it does. I tested it. Why I decided to gave it up was the fact that it worked in singleplayer but not in multiplayer, but It could be the problem on my side, maybe It needed something more to configure.

so to summarize: you need to put smth into "surfaces.ini" to make it crash with vanilla AC, so basically that means you have to make 2 layouts, one with, one witout this, damn

Couldn't you use the extension/ext_config.ini file? That's loaded only by CSP and it won't load without having it.

EDIT: oh I see, it needs to be enabled track extension. Then yes, separate layouts or you support only CSP.
