edit: track also has stupid high "density" for [LightPollution] in "ext_config.ini", make it 0.8 or smth

Thanks
this track has no timing gates, you must make some first before ailine can be recorded

I am trying to make an fast_lane.ai. I am in the Sim, hot lap mode, AI app open. I click "start recording," I drive half a dozen laps, I carefully stitch the overlaps at start/finish. When I get a lap I like, after start/finish I hit the brakes and exit the sim. This is exactly according to the "ai line guide"
I open the track\ai folder, and rather than a fast_lane.ai.candidate file, I instead have a pit_lane.ai.candidate file. I have not been anywhere near the pit lane, and I did not click "start pits" in the AI app.
In the Sim, the line I'm recording is the purple curve (the fast_lane), I can see it evolve each lap. And I can see the pre-existing, light-blue, pit_lane curve. I.e., i'm recording a fast_lane.ai, and yet when it saves the candidate it is saving it as pit_lane.ai.candidate. I tried renaming that file as fast_lane.ai, but then when I went back in the Sim there is no fast_lane curve, i.e. no purple line, just the light blue pit_lane curve

Please help. I just want a fast_lane.ai

Cannot guarantee it will work, but I would suggest trying with CSP disabled (or at the very least, NEW AI behaviour disabled). I've had some issues as well with AI line, which were not there before CSP.

Thank you, Luchian, that actually worked.
This came about because I made a variant for a Kunos circuit. I want to put it up on Overtake (race department), and for completeness I feel like I should modify the ideal_line.ai before posting.
I see a lot of conversation about making fast_lane and boundaries files, but not about making ideal_line.ai Can I modify ideal_line.ai in Blender? I just need to change the line at two corners of a very large circuit. I don't want to record a completely new "ideal line" (and wouldn't know how to do that anyways.) What is your recommendation?

ideal_line.ai
is just the same as fast_lane.ai
you can just copy it over from fast_lane.ai to data\ folder
if you really want you can make/use a different one

ideal_line.ai is what is displayed, when you enable ai line with Ctrl+i
fast_lane.ai is what the ai is actually using
(edit: it might just be the other way around, but i think its right)
