I had a play with using photoscan to make a track model from youtube vids. Photoscan also has a 30 day trial. <edit> drone deploy looks made for the job </edit> Photos looking straight down from a constant altitude would work best. Also in order to automatically stitch them together they need to overlap. I would guess that would apply to any software. The manual suggests that a feature should appear in three photos. So the closer to the ground the drone is the more photos will be needed. But of course the higher the drone is the lower the detail captured. Probably a height to capture the width of the tracl and 2m on either side would be a good start. WW
@ArcusProduction had a look at the videos. They are very good for reference. Especially the pit area, I can model the pit building with no problems now. Also good for placing of some other objects.
@luchian thank you very much for your help. Unfortunately I encounter a problem yesterday when I installed the new update for the drone. The camera doesn't transmit a live image anymore...it's just a black screen. I've reseted to factory setting and instaled the updates a few times, but the problem is still there. The only thing left to do now, is to send it in for service repairs and unthil then I will have to postpone any activity with it. It's verry disapointing...
Well, it's not like this is an emergency . Like with every mod, it will advance as fast as we can get good data for it. For the moment there is something already, modelling all the objects. Furthermore, we might get plans from the circuit, right ? Good luck with the drone, hope you will keep the motivation until you get it back in working mode.
@luchian I would really like to help you with the project and somehow, things will work out for the best in the near future. I am still awaintg for an answer and on monday I will contact again the owner of the circuit. Have a great Sunday!
This project is really interesting. Thumbs up for all the work that's going into it. Also thanks a lot guys for posting the drone mapping videos, really great stuff! Cheers!
Hello! @luchian today brings some good news. I received the plans from the owner. So I will need your email adress to send it to you
Great ! We have an email address for this kind of exchanges: removed to avoid spam TY. Sent from my phone using Tapatalk
Got'em, thank you. I'll have a look in the evening after work, but from the pdf they seem to be what I'd need . Sent from my phone using Tapatalk
Hi guys! I am an official driver from willimsport racing team, the team that is having the racing scchool ok this track. I have hundreds of laps done on this track in different cars.If you want to i can help you with feedback about this track because i know it very well. I would love to be part of this project to make it as real as possible. Can you give me the track so i can test on it and see what is left to do please ? Best whises Dragos Simion
Looking forward for the scaled version. This one has too many elevation changes. The track is just bumpy, it doesn't have eleavtions
The plans from @ArcusProduction are looking good, will work with them the following days to see if we can nail the track layout. For elevations, no problems, it's easy to scale everything down on Z so that it becomes almost flat. As I understood, max elevation difference for the track is 2m, so on the scale of the track and as visible on a PC screen, that's basically neglectable. Will use this as a reference, but in DWG.
Wow, only 2m altitude It must be flattest circuit in the world. Perhaps even more than Poznan In one of my tracks there were ~5m drop in about 400m straight, it is almost imposible to notice.
Also this one the point of view si really low but the laps are done by sergiu nicolae one of the best drivers in romania!
