    Hello,

I'm having some trouble with one of the materials in my track. The grass doesn't seem to receive any kind of shadow from trees and other objects.

All of my other objects and materials seem to receive shadows as they should except the grass, and nothing I change in the shader options seems to have any effect on this. I've searched everywhere online and nobody else seems to have had the same issue.

    See screenshots attached.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,
    Dave.

Ok... Solved by changing to KsMultilayer rather than Ks_Multilayer_fresnel_nm.

Weirdly I had another texture set to the fresnel_nm material and it worked fine...

That shader should have been receiving shadows regardless. Did you assign a normal correctly?

Have just checked and all normals are pointing up, if they weren't wouldn't the grass be invisible from above?

Sorry, meant to say "normal map", one of the required textures for that shader.

Ah I see. That's solved it - my normal map texture for some reason had a black alpha channel which was causing the issue. Thank you!

Aha! I have competition with Oulton Park! Good luck with your build mate, I'm not even at the KS editor stage yet (damn you work!), looking good from what I can see though, recognised the locations in both images straight away :)

Looking forward to seeing how you approach this track, and a good kick up the backside for me to get back on my version once work dies down a bit!
