TUTORIAL Build your FIRST track - BASIC GUIDE
LAST UPDATE : Dec 2021
***
I’ll try and explain in few steps what is needed in order to export your first track in AC. However, this is not intended to be an extensive tutorial; it’s only a listing of minimum requirements for your first drivable track. And should be simpler than it looks
General advices:
- According to the size of your project, building a track might take from an hour to a few months . It's up to you to set the limits. I will not say that it might be taking years, cause if it would.. you probably don't need this guide
- It would be a good idea to... -
TUTORIAL Your FIRST car in Assetto Corsa - Basic Guide
LAST EDIT:
04-09-2017: feedback from Pankykapus (3D artist at Kunos)
27-08-2017: added info from @garyjpaterson (ty)
11-01-2019: added folder name length restrictions (thanks @fughettaboutit )

INTRODUCTION
There are already tutorials on car modding for Assetto Corsa out there. However, I feel they don't treat the subject as a whole. Example - the car_pipeline*.pdf directly coming with... -
TUTORIAL LIDAR (Point cloud) to mesh tutorial
Updated 31/1-2017. Comments about experience's with exported mesh added. Tutorial is finished.
This is to keep others from having as bumpy, a ride into this as i have had. Many frustrations.
Finding the right way into LIDAR point clouds, is like navigating a dense jungle.
There are so many purposes and ways to use LIDAR data, that we have acces to a forest full of free and paid for software, plus lots of file formats. Ad to that, all the things you can do to those files.
Created with CloudCompare 2.6.2 and Blender 2.76b
A heartfelt thankyou to Daniel Girardeau-Montaut, the creator of... -
TUTORIAL Race Track Builder - Inject elevation data and terrain texture
1. About
This workaround allows RTB to obtain the terrain texture and elevation data from another source, which ideally provides more detail than Google. This source can be anything in theory. A GeoTiff, a database or file containing data in XYZ format, another mapping service, such as the many regional WMS[1] servers. It can be used for both public and local services. And yes, it can also be a LIDAR based source. An example is provided which retrieves data from a regional public WMS server. Programming skills may be required to access other sources.

TUTORIAL Assetto Corsa Official Editor - Tutorial Video #1
Exciting news !
Kunos team, represented in this case by the KS lead 3d artist Simone Trevisiol, just released a first video presenting the basic functionality of their inhouse editor/exporter, the tool that will allow you/me/us modders to export own 3d creations. It seems that in the beginning, only track exporting options will be available, although for cars the same editor will be used a little bit later down the road. The main reason (and it makes sense) is that Kunos team wishes to also release a proper documentation when enabling car export, as cars require more that some 3d... -

ACC - Update 1.8
It's been a while since the last major update of ACC. However, the developers continued to improve in the background. With a DLSS demo video surfacing a few days ago, we now have the official release date confirmed: 24th of November (it had to be a Wednesday, of course).
Here is the official post:
We have a big week coming up in the land of Assetto Corsa Competizione on PC and we’re here today to tell you more! Get those race boots and race gloves ready, we’re going racing again!
UPDATE V 1.8 COMING NOVEMBER 24TH
Firstly, we’re excited to announce that Update v 1.8 is... -
The 5 point tyre model for ACC
This is too big not to write a few words about. Or better said, I _hope_ it is as big as it sounds . From the get go, I should say that I'm surprised to find out that AC/ACC are actually using a single point contact for physics calculations. True, I did not look a long time at this, but I think Scawen was talking about it from 2010. So in my little mind, all the sims that came after that, definitely had to be using more than one contact point, right ? Wrong.
Enter Aris.
In modern computing, collision detection is still one of... -
TOOL LIDAR data - available for free for England
Are you a track modder ? Good ! Are you passionate about UK tracks ? Well, even better !
Because the UK's Environment Agency decided to make all the data collected in the last 17 years, available for everyone to use for free. The applications are various, but speaking only for our field of interest, this is huge news for every track modder out there. Getting accurate reference data is one of the most difficult tasks without LS when aiming for a top quality project. Thanks to this decision, it's now possible to access all the 11 terabytes of LIDAR data, and with it most... -
Modding for ACC - Is it possible ?
Assetto Corsa Competizione uses the Unreal Engine 4 ..engine. So modding (generally speaking) is definitely possible. I can only imagine the possibilities with the tools available (e.g. here). However, at this point not much public information is available on the how-to side. What we do know, it Kunos's official position :
"Assetto Corsa’s structure was designed from the beginning to be moddable.... -
Modding for LFS
This is too big not to share. It's where it all started. I don't know where(if) it will lead, but LFS has been on my drive non-stop since cca 2003-2004. So it has to have a place here. Wishing them good luck, and wishing LFS a long life still.

This is what Scawen (n.b. main LFS dev) wrote today:
Dear Community Members,
We have been working on a new system to support mods. We need a little more time to get to public testing, but there's quite a bit to show you and talk about already.
NOTE: There may be changes to... -
ACC - Ready to Launch, May 29th.
Less than 24h left and we'll all get to see Assetto Corsa Competizione being "freed" into the wild, as a stand-alone 1.0 title. Support will not stop after that, but tomorrow is a very important day for Kunos, since it will mark another milestone in the small(still ?) studio's life.
One of the most anticipated and discussed features of v1.0 was the "matchmaking". The relatively loose interpretation/understanding of what this actually means, led to a lot of complaints/disappointment on the official forum. And since the general understanding risked to... -
RELEASED-final Donington Park 2018, [GP & National]
DOWNLOAD HERE.
There are currently 2 versions of Donington released for Assetto Corsa. Both are made by the same talented modder, BrunUK. And both look stunning. However, the 2018 version is something special. I am not referring to the layout per se, or the quality of track objects; I'm speaking about the overall look. It is perfect. And I don't use this term easily.... -
TOOL SAS.Planet - download huge maps on PC
Some time back, I was writing about GMS, a tool that can help you download big maps on your PC. Today I'm writing about a similar tool, that has acces to an even larger map database, and has many other useful capabilities. It was actually mentioned by @liquido in this post, but we didn't yet have a separate discussion about it.
The tool is called, SAS.Planet (or SASPlanet... -
RELEASED-wip "Parking Interview" Experience [wip]
Hello racers & drifters & cruisers & spectators,
With some considerable delay from initial planned date, here is the first public version of my still work-in-progress parking. As you know the original idea was to offer the possibility to recreate the parking interview from Driver game, but meanwhile the idea evolved (way) beyond that. However, there is still work to do, so in this first release only the Level 1 of the parking is available + the ramp towards Level 2, to get a taste of it
Also worth mentioning that initial plan was to release only the finished version; but... -
DLC The Way Back Machine - AC v.1.10 & Porsche Pack 2
Motto:
“How did it get so late so soon?” ― Dr. Seuss
End of November brought the 2nd Porsche Pack DLC on the PC version of Assetto Corsa. For those that purchased the Season Pass, the pack was automatically included in one's library. And same it shall be for the third pack, when it will launch a little bit later this December. The 20th, as far as we know.
Before speaking about the list of cars, it is also worth mentioning that together with the DLC, we have seen the 1.10 update. With each update, broken stuff gets fixed or new stuff gets added, continuously improving the... -
DLC Porsche Pack 3 & AC v.1.11
Mid-week release for Porsche Pack 3, so time might be scarce for trying it out. However little time you have though, it worth's giving the new toys a spin. Porsche Pack Volume 3 follows the first two DLC packs dedicated to the Porsche brand, introducing a selection of seven different vehicles. The pack places an emphasis on modern-day Porsche racing cars, including the entire 991 GT3 racing line and the latest 2016 Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid, while also featuring two of the German brand’s most iconic racing cars, the 908 Lang-Heck and 917 K.
Volume 3 also brings players one of... -

DLC Bonus Pack 3
Time for some reheated news. But hey, at least is still this year. I would even go that far as saying it's still this month . Anyhoo.. just wanted to put into the timeline collection what probably was the last DLC for Assetto Corsa in its present form. Even though when it was announced, Laguna Seca should've come as a paid addition, activity at Kunos Simulazioni is in continuous transformation. Always listening to community, and probably to lay out a good base for the future development, decision was taken to... -
ACC Early Access - Release 6.. not yet.
The last milestone on the roadmap presented and unofficially committed to last year, was Release 6. It was scheduled to be released on February 13th. However, and even if Kunos managed to keep the previous 5, it seems that 13th meant bad luck (even though in Italy that would be.. 17th ?) and they could not make it. Initially announced as a 1-week delay, with this announcement:
"Dear ACC forum community,
we apologize for the delay that this news had about the forum post, but all the team is...
