NEWS Assetto Corsa Press(ing) Day !
Yesterday (or Sep 29th, depending on your time zone) Kunos organized a press event, to give their "precious" a proper launch. It was organized directly within Autodromo di Vallelunga (where their HQ also is) and since they were at a racetrack.. there had to be cars. And not just "any": almost the entire lineup of cars present in the game was brought at Vallelunga "in flesh". Or so it seems from the pictures that we've been able to spot on the net .
Will leave you with an approximate translation of the coverage provided by... -

TOOL SAS.Planet - download huge maps on PC
Some time back, I was writing about GMS, a tool that can help you download big maps on your PC. Today I'm writing about a similar tool, that has acces to an even larger map database, and has many other useful capabilities. It was actually mentioned by @liquido in this post, but we didn't yet have a separate discussion about it.
The tool is called, SAS.Planet (or SASPlanet... -
DLC Ready To Race
A new set of 10 cars, that may be different inside this pack but one can find good matched inside all the content released so far by Kunos. Amongst them, the mythical rally car Toyota Celica. This could be seen as a sign of Kunos supporting (maybe improving ?) the dirt physics somewhere in the future ? Who knows.. for the time being we can just enjoy what we have. So, here what RTR brings:
"Ready To Race" includes 10 new cars from AUDI, Lotus, McLaren, Maserati and Toyota, providing the "most wanted" models ready to race! This provides a great variety of models that mix... -

NEWS Assetto Corsa 1.0RC is dead ! Long live Assetto Corsa 1.0 !
About two months since the release of 1.0RC, Kunos team launches the 1.0 version of Assetto Corsa. The game is now out of "Early Access" and joins the market as a finished product. However, this doesn't mean the development is over, far from it. Lots of content remains to be brought by the team as free content or DLC during the next year. And we already know the quality we can expect.
As a bonus (and as a tradition) we should keep an eye on their FB page on December 31st. Another important announcement to be made .
Assetto Corsa 1.0RC is... -

NEWS Dream Pack getting closer
While there's still no announced date for the Dream Pack release (other than Q1 2015), we are definitely getting closer. The teasing increased lately on their FB page, and some hints are being published by the devs on their personal accounts. Like the one from Luca, on Feb/19: "1.15am - #AssettoCorsa Dev Team and Betatesters are doing a GREAT job together on the incoming update. Hold on! The best is yet to come!". Good news and bad news in the same time, because we can see them cars and roads, but we... -
Simucube Quick Release system for DD wheels
Almost "out of the blue" a video appeared today:
Over at Granite Devices, the guys behind the Simucube OSW, exciting stuff is going on. After announcing a wireless button adapter a while back, today we find out about a new Quick Release system for Direct Drive wheels. Any owner knows that a good QR is not something to ignore, because any play into the mechanism will add unwanted noise in the FFB. Now, there are of course good QR out there but there's only one problem: the price ! They cost basically almost as much as an entry... -
DLC Backlog reloaded: Japanese and Red Pack DLCs
2 of them, to be precise. We refer of course, to the same period of time: end of April to present day. It started with probably the most requested DLC in Assetto Corsa: The Japanese Pack. 7 Japanese car icons, with very different personalities, in both classic and modern flavor.
The Japanese Pack was released on May 18th, and for 4.99EUR one got:
Mazda MX-5 2016 and MX-5 CUP
The Mazda MX-5 Miata is famous to be a highly capable racing platform; it is known as the best-selling roadster in the world, and some even claim that this model is the most road-raced car world-wide.... -
BLOG Assetto Corsa - A new journey !
I was reading about Assetto Corsa quite some time before it was launched, and didn’t really know what to think.. I am an LFS’er from 2004 or so, and even though I have enjoyed the “usual suspects” (rF, GTR, GTR2, Race07, …) I never could really get into other sim than LFS. It was the only one that seemed credible enough for my brain.. the only one where the cars were (almost always) really doing what I would expect’em to do..
..and then came Tech Preview, February 2013, and I was sold.
It only took me a few minutes in the Lotus Elise @Magione, to realize... -

NEWS netKar Pro to become Freeware
Yes, you read that right. In a series of tweets, Stefano Casillo (the lead programmer over at Kunos) announced that on December 1st, 2015 the multiplayer lobby of netKar Pro will be shutdown, and the software will become available as freeware (and no longer supported).
Until then, the license verification was already deactivated, which means that if you have a pay code you can share it with friends and the product will get activated for unlimited time.
For those of you that don't know what nK is, I'll say only this: it's beyond... -
NEWS Assetto Corsa Vows Renewal & a New Trailer
With the release date closing in, the team over at Kunos, released another cool trailer to showcase the console version of Assetto Corsa. We say console version, but other than the fact of running on consoles, there is nothing less about it, compared to the PC version. However, we all know (and interact) on the Internet, so you might be aware of 2 general concerns:
1/ that the game's strong point - the physics simulation - will be toned down in the console version
2/ once that is done, the PC version will follow also, in order... -
DLC Tripl3 Pack
Together with the release of the console version in Europe (August 26th), there is also a new DLC coming our way: the tripl3 pack. As far as we know, it will cost 2.99 EUR, and will feature 3 cars. However, not just any cars but:
Ferrari FXX K
The FXX K is the R&D program of Ferrari starring the first hybrid prototype of Maranello. The initials K refers to the "Kers" technology (kinetic energy recovery) for maximizing performance on the track. Free from homologations and regulations, the FXX K has been developed with no compromise... -
NEWS Oculus Rift, what's in the bag ?
Every journey starts with a single step.
For Oculus it was somewhere here (ok, ok, first you need to put your shoes on, or flip-flops if you wish, but we’ll leave that stuff out). My favorite part must be this one:
[..]2) Logo/s. I am listing the organization as "Oculus", I plan on using that name on my VR projects from here on out. The HMD itself is tentatively titled "Rift", if you have better ideas, let me... -
NEWS Assetto Corsa (big) News
