This is my first attempt at making a track, and I wanted it to be the track I had the pleasure to wreck my s2000 on. Englishtown is a popular drift track, home of Club Loose. I started in RTB, but quickly found it to limited so I went to blender instead. I had no experience with blender before this so where I'm at now is from hours of hard work and a lot of lurking these forums. I realize the poly count is still a bit dense for the terrain, I'm slowly working on reducing it. I used LIDAR data to form the elevation and from first hand experience of driving the track, I'm happy with the results.
Hi @RoyFitz , welcome to the poly side ..but let's address the first thing: You own a S2000 ? One of my favorite cars but one that I will probably never have the guts to buy even if I had the money ready for it. Track looks nice, last 2 photos are quite believable. Will be a good addition to get another drift playground, especially since it's based on a real location. Keep it up !
@luchian ,Yep I still own an s2000, the rear end is notorious for being a pain to bring back when stepped out to far, I over corrected and sent the rear into a jersey barrier. It was a dark day. But no major damage just had to replace the rear suspension and minor body work, good as new!
Looks interesting. Will you make it race friendly too, not just for drifting? It looks like it could be fun with slower race cars too.
Yes! I use togo here for track days and like you said, it's fun for small/ slower cars. I'll also make sure to have different layouts. This track is small, but it has a few layouts to mix things up.
Oh wow! This looks awesome... Another track I wasn't aware of. I love that...learning about more race tracks and adding more variety to the sim. Way to go!!!
Thanks! Yes this track is not well know. Englishtown NJ, is known for its drag racing, except if you're in the drifting scene, then this place is dubbed, "the best place on earth." I do not believe any actual racing takes place at this track due to lack of run offs and other modern safety features, it's a bit scketchy.
Oh wow...I just looked it up on Google Maps. I didn't realize Englishtown, NJ is so close to the 95. I've driven past there several times, though I've traveled more on the Garden State Parkway. I live up in Massachusetts, but I've taken vacations, went to A.C. and whatnot that had me down that way. I can't drift worth a darn - but even if the track isn't really great for major racing, I will still use it for my smaller races, like the Abarth races I occasionally run.
Yeah your tree tutorial is great, the trees are just for testing now till I learn more about the types of trees at the track Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have a buddy who drifts there and works there every event, I personally only spectated the drift events. I use to do the track days though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The work you did on NJMP is what inspired me make this track. I did a track day at NJMP over the summer and being able to get familiar with the track beforehand made it a much more enjoyable experience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How was Turn 5 in real life? I still don't think I've ever gotten a perfect run through that corner in AC. A great corner, for sure...
This looks amazing! I was about to start making a version in blender myself. I'm a clubloose addict and drift every event there, I'm dying for a good version like this to shred in assetto! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
