For some time, I have been following the progress of a little tool called Game Asset Generator. It is a Blender addon in fact, that should generate a low poly version of your high poly model with a few clicks. The author says that it might give strange results in cars (since they have a lot of individual parts), but I think that used with a little planning (used on individual parts to reduce polys), or used on some track assets (which are mostly single objects) it could prove very useful. Example usage scenario: I am thinking at those tracks where you want to add detail but don't want to model stuff twice. So with this, you could (in theory) just model the high-poly, and use the addon to generate the low-poly. Here is the link (for the moment rather private, as it's a google drive link): DOWNLOAD Game Asset Generator Here are some late examples of results: If you give this a try, please DO post your results, or problems. This is still heavily under development (so it might not always work as expected) but could be really a neat tool. Curious about its future .
I saw this a few months ago, the only reason I didn't and won't be trying this anytime soon it is the author posts useless speed up videos with annoying music to showcase it. Still waiting for a video showcasing the steps where you can understand whats actually going on.
That is what it does to me. I tried to export the COBRA as a lowpoly asset for my tracks. Not much sense in using this one.
