Hi, who of you used blender versions up to 2.79 had the same problem in kseditor?
The problem that you cannot select objects directly from the car 3d with right click on the object but you have to do it in the left window from the scene objects list, while with version 2.8 the click selection works well.
    Has anyone solved it somehow?
because I have a lot of material made with 2.79 and even if I load these old fbx or blend files made with 2.8, the problem is not solved.

I also solved this problem of mine.
now using version 2.8, I have to export the blend files created with old versions (2.79 the one previously used by me), export to fbx by checking the "! EXPERIMENTAL! Apply Trasform" box (see screenshot) and in this way when I import everything in kseditor it works well.
I don't know what this button is for and if it will give me other problems, I'll try to find out.

ok all that glitters is not gold ... the problem of selection I have solved it, but now there is half a car missing in the fbx ... so, I still have a problem. : |

Also discarded the system “! EXPERIMENTAL! Apply Transform ", the only alternative I found to solve the problem and not have repercussions is this:

in blender 2.82 I load my car created with previous version 2.79, SHIFT + A and I create a cube, select the car mesh and the cube and run CTRL + J and join the meshes, at this point the old mesh has acquired the properties of the new mesh (cube) created with blender 2.82, now I can delete the cube in edit mode and rename my mesh as before joining it to the cube. so everything works.

it's a huge job to do it with every mesh and I don't know if there is a function to acquire its properties without doing all this.

I close the topic with these my last conclusions after many tests, maybe someone can help.
the meshes created with the version of blender 2.79 and perhaps earlier, have properties that in some way are different from those created with versions from 2.8 onwards.
these differences create a problem in kseditor, specifically they do not allow the selection of materials via click mouse but only from the drop-down side list.
In my case, a simple mesh without empty, of my older projects, imported from 2.79, to 2.82, (therefore with the problem in kseditor) to eliminate the problem I have to:
    .1) create a simple plane with 2.82
.2) select the old mesh first
.3) select the plane made with 2.82
.4) I run control + J and join the meshes
    .5) (optional) rename the mesh
This way I will no longer have the selection problem in kseditor.
Important note: if after all this I will scale the mesh, the problem will return to kseditor again.
To solve this problem the procedure is the same, but after the point ".1" I already give the scale I need to the plane before joining it with the old mesh, so that once joined, the old mesh will take the properties (which eliminate the problem in kseditor) and already the ladder from the new plane.
I don't know if anyone has encountered my same problem, and if they have solved it differently.
my import / export methods are the same as the guides that have been made on Ac also on this site.
However, if someone knows a different or better method than this, I would be happy to know it.

I understand you so much, I asked many people about that, followed tutorials and also contacted with the autor of the car that I'm modding and nothing has sense.

    Thanks for your efforts!
