Hi all ! A slight bit off topic, as it's not the WIP for Dallas, but this weekend I made a mock-up for the proposed Rio F1 track for 2020 (since the Braz' president I guess is trying to do forcing with Liberty Media.... seems like this project might go forward to replace Interlagos...anyway..).

I am having some shader issues on my walls and also grandstand scaffolding, if you can take a peek and let me know what I screwed up on that would be awesome!

You can start to see the issues at 1m03s and again at 1m17s...

If you remove self shadowing on the walls does the issue go away?

In KS editor - when wall is selected :
    Cast Shadow - TRUE/FALSE

If the sun is sitting at a 12 noon / high position you will get an undesirable self shadowing on the wall in general.
If you move the azimuth and zenith, see if it goes from this kinda z fighting shadow to a more solid shadow.

Ok I have another question (and actually wondering if there should be a thread concerning this?):
How can we make real-feeling tyrewalls ? Like actual absorbing objects, maybe even a bit deformable ? Is this possible ?

As a native of Dallas, I'll be keeping an eye out for this one. It should be fun throwing a car around Fair Park.

Since you're a native of dallas, would you be interested in helping me out in taking some nice photos of the buildings in Fairpark ? This would greatly increase the detail of the overall track... if you're interested PM me or even reply here :)

Shadow BIAS is likely what you are after not cast shadow = false. You want the wall to make a shadow just not on itself. So use a shader with shadow bias as an option and increase until the problem goes away.

I'm sorry to say, but right now I have another project in top priority: Phoenix GP circuit...

I haven't opened a thread yet, sorry. For now just want to keep it a bit to myself before perfecting it for everyone's appreciation.

Thread opened for Phoenix, Dallas thread might be a bit quiet for a bit, but it will be done, for sure.

I'll see what I can do. I live the next county away now and FP is a bit of a stretch to get to these days. Even accounting for my lack of free time. (darn kids... ;-) ) That and FP tends to be closed up much of the time except for events.

Well if you guys ever go to the state fair (if that exists anymore), just please take as many pics of buildings you can stumble upon. Odd that after all these 35 years, Fair Park has barely changed.

Most of the buildings were built in 1936 to celebrate the centennial of Texas’ independence. They were built in the Art Deco style and are amazing to see in person. And, yes, the State Fair of Texas is still going on every fall. Where the main preoccupation of everyone is a college football game and finding new food to fry. Yes, they fry almost everything.

Fun fact: one parking lot still seems to have the original asphalt. You can still see the outline of the concrete barriers. upload_2019-6-27_9-13-4.jpeg

Hey yeah I realized that when I did my very first Dallas version for F1c, so at least that part is super accurate, the hardest part for me is the run from the concert hall down to the chicane (where there used to be the Texas Flyer (?) Roller Coaster), since they built that diamond shaped hall after the race, there's no trace of the track parts there..

I have some good news and some bad news.

The good: I made it out to the State Fair of Texas in Fair Park this weekend hoping to get some good pictures for you.

The bad:Alas, fair days are some of the worst to try that. Between flags & banners hung everywhere and the place absolutely stuffed with people (it was a holiday weekend), I couldn't manage to get any decent pictures. I was only able to determine that the above section of parking lot has been repaved. And let's not even mention the traffic (bad even for Dallas).

I'll give it another go after the fair is done and the place is cleaned up.

ok, but if you could get the most pics done from the buildings on left and right from the final hairpin so before the parking lot where there’s the cattle farm, and keep snapping away all the way to the end of Admiral Nimitz that would be awesome
