Limitations of the engine will dictate what can and can't be done, the intention is to recreate the route, I don't think it's possible to drive it today due to new one way systems.
I guess some basic AI traffic will have to suffice, unless there's another way to trigger dynamic objects.

The first time I saw this, my reaction was "Nice, a track in Paris", "Cool, another track for assetto" ...

Now, after watching the movie several times, watching the making of, etc etc, I'm "WOW, the track"

I really wanna drive this in Assetto !!!!

I'll need patience, because even if it was a full job dedication, this would take months !!!!

Wish it was full time, I have made progress but the Louvre buildings are mighty complex to model in low poly, I won't be posting updates until significant progress is made, and I've just started an architectural rendering project so won't have any time this week.

I doubt track donations would reap enough rewards to drop the day job :p.

    No, and I wouldn't want to ;)

Almost finished with this architectural project, about another 12 hours of rendering then I have my PC back, 16 cores can only do so much.

If rF(pro) can do it, you can too @r@m, you and Assetto Corsa that is ! :D

And speaking about Paris. Will be driving there in about 1 month. So if you have any specific areas you'd like reference for, I can dedicate basically 1 day for shooting/filming. I have a GoPro and a DSLR. Just let me know.

Hey @r@m, had very little time lately to even give you an update.
So, I did drove in Paris with the GoPro, but it was sort of a semi-fail I think .

Basic line is that today, it is impossible to make the same route as in the movie. Not only because of traffic (which is awful) but some of the streets are one-way (in the wrong direction) and some are closed during weekends (when you get close to Montmartre). However, I was there 2 times since the last time we spoke, so I did get at least some footage :). Will just need to find some time "soon", to encode the videos and share them with you somehow. I think there will be at least some material to start work on some sections; we can then fill the gaps on a case by case (I will drive there about 1/month until June next year).

Have you seen the "making of" ?

A journalist takes an apointement with Lelouch where the film starts, and he appears with the same car Lelouch used to film it.
And he interviews Lelouch while he drives on a route the most similar posible to the original one.

Lelouch even makes the same "wrong direction" in opera as in the Original ... amazing video the making of

I have seen a part of it. But I had a saved map on Google Maps with checkpoints, and I tried to follow that :). In the meantime, I filmed some more, by foot in Montmartre area :D.

Guys... I can't believe this is the only place online where people are talking about making this map. I thought it would've been out there for sure. I want to help. I've never really modded anything before but I'm in the process of learning 3D modeling. I know a bit of blender and substance painter. Enough to make a map I guess. I hope you guys are still active because this is too important to not happen.

Well, it's a big project - so not many will venture into it. R@m was indeed doing a tremendous job with this but unfortunately he "vanished". Hope he's doing fine tho.

He did a tremendous job reporting all of his findings and progress in this thread. I'll take everything he reported here and I'll try continuing his job, even though I'll have to redo everything he already did. I think having this track modeled is great not just for Assetto Corsa but for any game that comes out in the future. Right now I'm thinking about making maybe 2 versions, none of which free roam. One with static cars (and trucks) in the way but without the moving cars that didn't really interfere with the film, and the other with no cars at all.

I don't want to get too ahead of myself so right now I'll focus on building the 3D model. One noob question though: should I make a "high" poly version and then trim it afterwards if I see the need or should I go super low poly and add details afterward if I see there's room?

You'll want to keep it as low poly as possible, the tri budget for the AC engine isnt very high, specially when you factor in multiple cars racing around.
