let alone the ai. there can be camera problems after you've made this too btw. check that immediately when you get something you like or more disappointment later. (a track orientation issue when generating AI)

Age old issue. Are you guys living under a rock?

Edge limits are defined by VALID race track. You have a few options. One is the more or less "official" way to define the limits in your 3D program. Blender instructions are here:

    https://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/...define-track-limits-for-ai.45913/#post-891989

Then there is this app made by a friend of mine

    https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/ai-line-helper.16016/

And then the old way is to make sure your valid track is at the limits where you want the edge lines.

Oh life has many rocks indeed.. Didn't know it's such a big issue, this did not happen with Hope track and construction was similar (road+pit). Anyhoo, thanks for pointing the right direction.

All this seemed like a long read for such an annoying issue (and for a little mind like mine on a Saturday midnight). So I've just done an export w/o the PITS surface, used it to record AI, and then reverted to normal track. Quick and dirty, but works ok at this stage.

I still appreciate your charming reply @LilSKi and will use it when track is closer to final. At least for learning how, if nothing else.

Just set the pits surface to IS_VALID_TRACK=0 in the surfaces.ini. Then set it back to valid after recording.

Recording AI with missing physical surfaces is generally a bad idea. As it can cause a crash when you add the surfaces back.

And my reply is meant as a joke as this topic has been pretty extensively covered over the years.

I should know by now that that is your style; you should also know that most of my friends say that I'm over sensitive at times :D. Anyway.. we're sliding off-topic. The trick with valid track would've been quicker indeed.
Bottom line is I have an AI that is working ok for now (and no errors with all surfaces back).

Brace for the real pain, because I would like to make a first run at the physical layer and that IS indeed something I did not do before..

Of course @Prototype . You focus on those buildings &co; one way or another, I will share my marshals when I have them :D.

@Pixelchaser the old dude look good, but it's 10k ! I could run it through an optimizer, but I'll look at other options before. The pro of this model though, is that it actually looks as one of the marshals could look

hehe I know its like some old Romanian farmer turned track marshall guy that's really into Brexit . its only 10 k, luchian just run it. its still lower than all the trees that should be there and you should be modelling. and its the only living thing on your track  give it some life man !:ROFLMAO:

give him some lod`s , he will be fine.....

:ROFLMAO: I know, but it's not only ONE that I will use; I'll need something like 15-20 all over the track. Plus, I'd like to add some photographers, some spectators, some PIT people. So numbers might go up quickly :). Let alone when adding 3d grass to all that vast areas.. I'm actually afraid that performance will be worse than on other fuller tracks, since there is no objects to hide stuff..

In the same time I guess there's no harm in trying and see what happens. :)

well you can throw a lot at the engine successfully as everyone is finding out lately. . and with some lods. and lack of scenery inherent i think you could definitely be able to do such a thing with lods. hes just like a couple of buildings and a bit of forrest really from a built up track.

    So, regarding sun position.

    I had a photo I took on April 28th 2018, at 10:12 am.
I went into AC, and set the same time (with SOL+CM)

    This is what I got:
    sun_pos.jpg

Spot on. Therefore, subject closed. (and my mind is at ease now :D).

    Thats pretty awesome @luchian .
The colour is pretty much spot on lighting wise.

I wonder how the SOL algorithm works? (love it btw!)

Sun position - location of earth orbit around the sun and the tilt of the earth is needed to give year round correct lighting .... would mean we would have to have latitudinal and longitudinal position of the track .. can we do this? ... to give accurate lighting? If not, you would have the perfect lighting for the day you took the photograph only?

Only latitude can be set in lighting.ini. (provided the track is corectly facing North in model). I did not change anything else, seems to be enough.

The date test was arbitrary, as I was sure about the time the photo was taken. But I am sure other date&time will give similar matching results.

Nice to see some track action on here ! Was starting to feel a bit lonely.

    Great car selection too @Gabriel44
That 641 (?) is one of the most beautiful F1 cars ever made IMO.
