Hi, I'm starting modding cars in AC and I'm having problems to get a correct way to do for modify the cars on Blender.

How is your import/edit/export routines in blender?

I'm looking to avoid the use of 3dSim ED3

My actual process is use the unpack kn5 funtion of content manager and then open the fbx on blender, and for example delete a fog lights. Then export to FBX and open in KsEditor to convert to kn5. But I'm not doing things ok because i get normals flipped parts, smoothing lost or transparency.

Actually using the last version of Blender 2.8, and tried also 3d Studio 2021... any routines for any of this programs will be great.

I modelled a textured a wheel in a morning and I'm spending days to get it into the game. I did! But using 3dSim ED3 and I want to aboid this program.

    Thanks!

"get normals flipped parts, smoothing lost"
this happens on "purpose" with encrypted cars or cars that dont want you to edit them

Also for some reason that export from CM is scaled up by 100 in blender on open, so scale down by 0.01, be carefull about the overall car center when doing that. Actually for some cars i found exporting a car with 3dsimed is better than CM export, not sure about animations.

About lost transparency: use the same export file "model.fbx" when finally exporting from Blender, all the material and object settings are stored in the file "model.fbx.ini" (Persistence file, ksEditor loads it)

Asked the author of the car that I'm modding and there aren`t any type of encryption on it.

Scale problems I handle without problems. But I need a straight way process to edit parts and things that I don't want to touch remains the same when I add the parts.

Playing with blender is a disaster, mainly getting material errors, extrange textures and flipped faces.

In 3d studio max 2021 materials works OK but I'm losing the smoothing on the mesh and have no idea why.

I need a specific version of Blender or 3d studio Max?

    Please help!

I edited an unencrypted car in blender after unpacking the .kn5 with CM and the model became massive. The problem is blender's default export settings. Make sure when you export, under the "Export FBX" settings, make "Apply scale" - "FBX All", I believe, or something. Just make sure it isn't "All local", which is the default.
The rest of your problems I don't know anything about.

Finally I find that my exported mesh have some issues and also seems there is a properties problem with Blender 2.8 meshes and some imported FBX files.

The solution is join the problematic mesh with a new plane to unify mesh properties. Then delete the new plane via edit mode and rename the mesh if needs. Once did I can export to FBX and load in ks editor, load persistence and export to kn5 successfully.

And the new kn5 will export well to FBX (via CM) and load without issues on Blender.
