@garyjpaterson was kind enough to convert one of the 1982 F1 cars that I have access to. The original modeler gave them to me, originally for F1C.
First, Gary does not have time to do all the cars, but was kind enough to convert one to see what they would look like in AC. I hope to get time to convert them myself down the road. I thhought I would share his kind work.

This looks quite good actually !
I say this because I assume the polycount is not that high being a conversion, and yet in these shots it looks "fresh".

And this also makes me wonder : how is FPS with a full grid of cars that are under 100k (I assume) ? Logic says it should be better but by how much ? :)

I think the tri count was around 35K, which is like a LOD B basically, so even without LODs it should perform really well. Quite a lot of textures, nowadays usually they are merged into fewer but larger textures, but even though the .kn5 is quite small at around 16mb, Kunos is usually ~40mb.

But it probably won't be miles better than Kunos cars because they use lods all the way down to 2k at a distance, which this obviously don't do.

I like the older F1 cars (pre-super grip); 1930 up to about 1988-90. These cars are very fun to drive and slide through corners. When the physics and turbo engine done up challenging as well.

A lot of rF1 cars were conversions from F1C, then converted to AC or rF2. Because I knew the F1C folks, I can get fresh pre-converted models and tracks.

Just how much time to invest in conversions is the question. Many things out there today are conversions of conversions of conversions. I will wager not as much original content for rF1 as advertised.

Looks grate. I always find the physics the hard part. But then its a lot of math and i suck at it.. look forward to update. Cheers.

hi, if the team is Sim Dream, don't lose your time.
all the 1982 cars are turbo engine, and the datas inside the folders
are the same, from Ferrari to Osella.
they want 10 euro for a packet of 16 teams, that in realty they have made only 1 (turbo).
this team of work are cheaters.
after i buy and i see that all cars are the same, i write them, without reply.
i ask at this site to delete all from that team.
