Ahuehuete Tree. This is bigger than what I would need, but there are some of these near the track.

Will be curious if you find it. But I would expect it will look bad ingame anyways due to the very small leaves ?

(..alpha in trees textures has always been my nemesis :D.. I'll post a few screens to show what I mean later).

    Thanks guys!
I appreciate your comments and help. @LilSKi sent me some better trees to use last night. I updated the Ahuehuete Tree picture above to show it in distance. Just want the appearance of that tree.

The track was built in 1958 and a lot of the trees that are in photos (see below) would have been 5-10 years old (also see 1958 photo above). Although all trees were not new. I liked @Johnr777 's idea to just make it a 60's track and not a specific year. However, I'm trying to keep it simple for first track attempt and going for about 1963. So the track will look "newer" than some photos. Fresh trees, grass, tarmac, etc.

As I mentioned earlier, I have been putting in some objects as placeholders until I can replace them. There are some buildings that will be replaced as well (not shown).
The picture below is from 1965

EDIT for 2 reasons: 1/ Just noticed the basketball court in top right of picture. 2/I can't say how much I appreciate the input and help. I don't think I have ever seen better tracks than the one's @LilSKi built. The work that everyone else has done. I like the constructive critiquing. If I can get this track half as good, it will be an accomplishment, and owe to you guys helping instruct me.

P.S. A lot of younger guys will build a track from photos and videos from the era. 35mm and 8mm video at best and assume things looked old. I was 8 years old in 1963 (11 in 67) and things did not look old. A lot a "progress" was done after WWII and I can assure you, it didn't look old to me:). New signage was put up for the races, etc. This track will look nostalgic, but not old.

Haha, that is very true, like the classic spa add on and the Monza 66 by Kunos... it looks great and well modeled, but the textures seem aged and colourless to me, not accurate to what the eye would see, but accurate to reference material. It should be similar to the modern age Spa and Monza!

Yeah I was aware of that when doing Riverside. I tried not to make it look 'dated' with washed out colors and such. Same thing with Bridgehampton. I tried to replicate what I see today and not what old photos and videos show. It can be hard for someone my age to 'see' that. I remember watching vintage Trans Am cars one day in HD @ Watkins Glen on TV a few years back. I remember thinking how colorful it was and then it hit me. This is what you would have seen in person in 1969-70.

...I also think it depends on what year of the track your going for. Was it refurbished and when. When was it built in relation to your track. Street circuits may be old. etc. Just research. But new signage is put up at each race in most cases. Some exceptions.

The GPL conversion is kinda done. It could use some texture updates, but I have been primarily focused on the scratch version. It drives fairly good. Still blocky

yeah, you should concentrate on textures and shaders, get yourself a base setup that good for everything, I just use kunos textures from Barcelona, its simply going to improve everything you produce at no matter what level, itll be much better for presenting and viewing before its finished, also good practice for you. you have proven your capable of conversions now they need to look the part and they can so easily. you don't even need to learn texturing skills.

as you can see here with the default texture.... the main advantage of using multilayer shader is how the detail is presented. this texture you have here , the detail is enormous. each pebble of asphalt must be about 2 cm wide  where as with the shader it would be scaled down in the details texture.

@Pixelchaser. I've been working on this for about a week. I looked at the ks tracks and I can't seem to get the right combination for the textures I have (with the stripes on the side). I'll keep at it though. Thanks!

you can send anything to myself and ill let you know whats wrong and whats right. (imo) the window of opportunity is quite small. not everything works straight off because it worked in a dx7,8 or 9 engine. :) but i can guide you to the end result..

Hello there, what happened with this awesome idea? :)

Old Mexico track is one of the 3 missing tracks for a complete Assetto Corsa GPL Mod (Mosport and old Watkins Glen is the other 2), I would love to have this track! :)

Ricardo sorta fell off the face of the earth. He was in our discord in the early days and was learning a lot then he just didn't come around anymore. So safe to say the project is abandoned.

That's really disappointing :((. Can someone continue his work? Or start from zero? I would love to have this track, happy to help in testing with GPL Mod! :)

I have decided, that I will try to do it myself then! :) So far, I have converted the original track, assigned all the textures at Blender, I have attached an image. Gonna fire up KsEditor soon, but I already see, the track will need serious texture changes, original ones did not age too well )

Any help, contribution, suggestion, whatever is more than welcome! :) I'm using the tutorial I have found at this site! :)

Hey there guys, new guy here... Just found this discussion last night while looking for 67 Mexico for AC, so decided to join the website. Anyway Cobra, I too would love to have this track for completing the 67 GP season... Now that we have the tremendous GPL 2 mod for AC. But I'm wondering if it would be easier to use the version for GSCE and convert it from that rather than the old GPL version? Obviously, scratch built from a good track builder would be best, but who knows how long that could take...

Yeah, that's why I do it! :) Old Watkins Glen is missing too as I have seen, that's gonna be the next project! Can You link the GSCE Version? I can not find it so far for whatever reason...By the way, the old GPL requires much less work I guess, since it has minimal number of objects, I do not have that much time unfortunately and I have to learn a lot of things, so I don't want to make You wait for too long )

Old Watkins is on my list and already have a layout built for it. I wouldn't bother converting anything as they are anything but accurate.
