I've had the shadow issue be a 'hidden' poly running along the edge. If you select the poly's along the edge using a loop tool, then manually deselect the visible ones and see if you can find it

Just asking if anyone knows about mod licenses? Is it necessary to get it, even the track (or car) is for free?
I understand the license is needed in case if you want to make money with it, but in case if is all for free...
Because I got some other response from someone. Really strange.

if money is being made from it then someone is bound to have an issue. there is fair use laws for when not making money. its a balance, if you make lots of money they want some. if you don't then there is no point in them taking you to courts for it. because there is nothing gained. and only a legal representative can actually answer the question which is always based on circumstance and situation.

plenty commercial sims with altered naming to tracks also. cote d`azur etc etc

I am asking, because I wanted a license from Okayama track owners, but we couldn`t agree on terms (as for an individual, not as a firm like AC). But they specifically stated, that I must not use the track in any purposes, so not distributing it not even for free. Do they have any legal background for this? I was talking to Kunos him self, and he said they have. But I really doubt. I did it on my own, without any help from them (no data what so ever, even I wanted some), and it I share it with people, I don`t know what they can legally harm me as an individual. Does any one have any experiences with that?

Yee, and as you said, renaming the track will do the trick. Fu** them really. What a corrupted world we have become, a bunch of assholes, really (sorry on my terms, but this is the truth).

thing is, you have shot yourself in the foot a little simply by going to them in the first place. I doubt your track would have made it to their tables in terms of a grievance other wise.

"Okahama" should do it . and if you want more safety just change part of it in some area too, so there is just 1 factor to provide evidence of it not being Okayama by way of replication.

It doesn't matter if money is involved or not. In the eyes of the law, the owner of the track has the rights on it.

Why it happens that free stuff do get released without license, is not really in the "fair use" garden, but more on the "we have no time to deal with this stuff so we don't actually mind".

However, it's rather difficult to "protect" a thing that deals with design. Like a track for example. There are ways (in Europe it is the EUIPO that deals with that - databases are public so you can do a search).
The name of the track (or a car) though, is most definitely registered. So if you use a different name, you should be fine.

I found a better solution, I charge the track owners :p

In reality there are many many licensing issues that tracks can have. For example, in Australia any track running V8SC signs the video game rights over to them, and I'm sure some of those track's rights are exclusive to V8SC.

Approaching track owners unless you are wanting commercial rights is generally a bad idea. CAD files for established tracks greater than 5 years old aren't accurate enough to really help.

@Mitja Bonca in your situation, being in a different country and being not for profit, I'd expect you to be pretty safe from lawsuits. I would try renaming your track Amayoka and releasing under an assumed name. Or claim it was leaked :p

Was the required fee reachable via crowdfunding?

Alternatively, contact Kunos. They might have a way of helping
